Paula Chatterjee, MD, MPH (@ChatterjeePaula) is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include quality measurement for hospitals and post-acute care facilities, alternative payment models, Medicaid policy, and the health care safety net. Recent projects have focused on understanding the relative contributions of hospital vs. skilled nursing facility quality measures on patient outcomes, potential health spillover effects of improved financial security as a result of Medicaid expansions, and the relationship between early Medicaid expansions and the opioid epidemic. Her work has appeared in JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, Health Affairs, The Lancet: Public Health, and the American Journal of Public Health. Dr. Chatterjee completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 2017. She graduated from Harvard Medical School in 2014, and received her MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology in 2010 and her BSc in Molecular Biology and Political Science in 2009 from Yale University. She practices inpatient medicine at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia.
